"La Rocca" (The Castle) reopens again !!

"La Rocca" of Brisighella (The Castle) restored to its original splendour!

Summer opening hours (April-October): La Rocca can be visited on Saturdays, Sundays, Holidays and days before a holiday from 10 am to 12.30 am and from 15 pm to 19.30 pm.

The restoration work of the Manfredi Castle required, in the first phase, maintenance and repair operations of the walls and the walkways. Afterwards, the other works (completed at the end of 2008) were due to emphasize the peculiar features of the fortress and to arrange the proper set up for the cultural activities that will take place there. In the same time has been carried on a thorough maintenance of the pedestrian walk coming from downtown (‘The Rocca’s street’), along with a new lighting for the Castle. Among the most relevant maintenance works we underline the repair and cleaning of the whole wall system, the remake of the roofs of the two towers and of the guard walkway. All the functional systems of the building now are also up-to-date.

Inside the Rocca a new project - named the "Talking stones" - has been carried out, a real surprise that will delight the youngsters.

It’s a multimedia journey aimed at emphasizing from an historical and artistic perspective the Rocca of Brisighella. The key notes of this project are: hi-tech multimedia system, careful choice of historic texts, playing of recorded voices, stage design with light special effects and a wide selection of music. In detail, visitors can activate some special sensors (10 cm in diameter) that will narrate the history of the Castle; a dynamic lighting has been also put in place, different from various points of view and time. There are five Talking stones in the Rocca, the first is placed outside the building with the voice of Dionisio di Naldo (a famous soldier of fortune), the others are located inside, in the most relevant spots. Here the voices change according to the place where visitors are: a warrior, a peasant and a servant will narrate the stories about the Rocca, acting like guides for the visiting guests.

In one word, a real time-machine at visitors’ disposal, an impressive plunge in the past !
